More and more recently published literature discusses performance measurement of scientists. Research shows that the current system of measuring performance is mostly based on quantitative criteria. The output is measured. For example the number of publications is considered. This fact, however, is seen as problematic. Scientists could be influenced negatively in their behavior. For this study, nineteen students were asked to complete an interview about performance and performance measurement of scientists. A mixed-method was used to analyze the data. The results show that students have similar concerns. They also believe that the performance of a scientist should not only be looked at quantitatively, but also qualitatively.
